Netherton Foundry 12" Black Iron Chapa Griddle

A compact chapa griddle plate built for fire cooking at home, on the trail, or by the shore. At 12" (30 cm), it’s portable enough to fit into a rucksack but tough enough to handle open flames. A chapa is a traditional flat iron griddle, rooted in Argentinian Gaucho cooking. Designed for use directly over fire or charcoal, it delivers searing heat for meat, vegetables, breads, and more. Tough, simple, and communal — the chapa turns any flame into a feast.

Forged in Shropshire and pre-seasoned with natural flax oil, this 12" chapa griddle resists corrosion and develops a natural non-stick finish over time. Detachable legs make it easy to set up for outdoor use or pack down for compact storage, while the heavy-duty iron build ensures it withstands high heat without warping.

FAQ's

A chapa is a flat iron cooking plate traditionally associated with Argentinian-style fire cooking. It creates a broad, hot surface for searing, frying, warming and cooking directly over open fire or charcoal.

The 12" chapa is best suited for solo cooks, couples, compact garden cooking setups, camping trips and beach cooking where portability matters. It gives you a proper iron fire-cooking surface without the size and weight of a larger chapa.

This chapa is well suited to eggs, bacon, burgers, steaks, fish, flatbreads, vegetables, pancakes and small fire-cooked meals. It is especially useful when you want direct heat and a simple flat cooking surface over flame or embers.

Yes. With the legs removed, the chapa can be used on suitable hobs, including induction when heated gradually. Always heat slowly from cold, avoid sudden temperature shock and use a heat source suited to the plate size.
